  1. The Printing Press. DUH!!

    Common knowledge.

  2. Computer, because there are SO many uses for it.

  3. uhm cell phones

i dont leave my house without it

    most people have it

and the age in which someone gets one is getting lower and lower

    or computers...

you have everything on a laptop now...

internet... microsoft office... games.... photos... music... webcam... you can talk to people over the computer... you can find almost ANYTHING on the internet you need...

so maybe computer is a bigger impact

but i constantly have my phone on me... not my computer

    so i dont know lol

  4. computers - they're used for everything!!

Typing/Organizing information, operating machinery in just about every single field imaginable (hospitals/science labs especially), and easier communication, better quality of graphic design and movie production (entertainment).... that's all the comes to my mind at this late hour, but good luck :)

  5. The AUTOMOBILE

From positive impacts, such as an easier, faster, mode of transportation that has made long distances seem shorter; to negative impacts, such as, the dependence on oil and the great effect it has on the economy since almost EVERYONE on the planet depends on an automobile to get them somewhere, or even as a tool for agriculture.

The automobile has made the greatest impacts in all areas of human life and industry:

Agriculture - without tractors, plows, etc. we'd still be waiting in line for loafs of bread, at the grocery store, or waiting for the farmer to finish planting/cultivating his crops.

Logistics - the entire industry of logistics centres around automotives such as trucks to get food and other goods to different states, cities, and communities.

War - Without automotives such as tanks, the armies of the world would still be fighting trench warfare, and encountering viscious stalemates here and there.

Economy - OIL - Need I say more?

Infrastructure - In almost any country, every state, every city, there is a road, a highway, a parking lot; anything do with cars.

Environment - Pollution, scrap yards, etc.

Now imagine a world without automobiles.  What would it look like?  It would look almost alien to see a world without roads and/or pollution.

That's MY opinion on the GREATEST impact on modern life.

people meeting people over the internet and falling in love

finding info about everything you need (yahoo answers, imdb.)

hanging out with people even though youre really not (myspace, msn)

    buying stuff (ebay, amazon)

  8. Penicillin.

    Soap.

Explanations not really needed, they're pretty self-evident.  Probably not the answer you were looking for, but that's my opinion.
