people think its going to be the end of the world when its just the end of the Mayan calander. every calander ends. my calander ends the day before january 1st. that doesnt mean the world is going to end

It is actually nothing at all, but many suckers believe it is. No one really knows when any of the many Mayan calendar cycles end, so 12/21/12 is just a wild guess, and one cannot give such specific dates based upon nothing firm. I bet several people $1000 apiece that doomsday will not be 12/21/12. Really, 12/12/12 is a better guess for such c**p than 12/21/12 is. Nothing catastrophic will happen on either date, so it does not matter which one you use.

I think the start date for it was 1311 BC - so a bit of a nonsense time to start it all from - Unless there is proof of something amazing in 1311 BC?  As far as I can tell humans have been around longer than that.
