I colect old coins and I found this old coin that is Japanese I think that it is 1944 but I am not shore

    It's the 19th year (19年)of the Showa (昭和) period. The number 19 can also be written as "十九."


  2. As noted, the Japanese organized time within the reign of the Emperor. Hirohito's rule was named Showa, and years were marked off serially as X-year of that reign.

    BTW, in wartime, Japan confiscated all currencies from territories it conquered and issued new money, called script. You may have a coin from an English colonial territory, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc. If so, they are  worth a few cents to collectors. They can be found  in all  flea markets and street stalls in Asia.
