  1. Dual-core refers to a CPU that includes two complete execution cores per physical processor. It combines two processors and their caches and cache controllers onto a single integrated circuit (silicon chip). It is basically two processors, in most cases, residing reside side-by-side on the same die.

Even without a multithread-enabled application, you will still see benefits of dual-core processors if you are running an OS that supports TLP. For example, if you have Microsoft Windows XP (which supports multithreading), you could have your Internet browser open along with a virus scanner running in the background, while using Windows Media Player to stream your favorite radio station and the dual-core processor will handle the multiple threads of these programs running simultaneously with an increase in performance and efficiency.

--- I had a look at the Laptop your are talking about. In the style stakes

it really stands out and is probably one of the best looking Laptops out their.

Yes it is quite fast starting at the Dual core 2.0 gig or upgradable to the 2.2 gig. With todays standards its a little behind but still good for the overall price.

--I wouldnt worry what people say about the touchscreen. I think its personal taste to whether you like using touch screens or not. Weigh up the Pros against the Cons.

-- The Graphics card ATI Radeon HD 3200 isnt to bad but remember its still an IGP card, so dont expect to have graphics compareable to any dedicated graphics solution.

--If you buy it definatley buy as much Ram as possible as well as Vista 64 Bit

    Take care, and good luck.

  2. Dual processors can do more work than a single. E.g. if you were to launch a 10MB powerpoint presentation on a single core processor it would take 2-3 seconds then a further 4-5 seconds to load all slides.

On a dual core processor it would load and display all slides in 2-3 seconds.

Touchscreen is great if you want to use it, if not, you are paying for something you don't need.

Personally I prefer Intel processor over AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processors as Intel have longer battery life and are faster.

Look for a Centrino laptop with dual core processor, you can't go wrong - you will be glad you did.
