  1. Ok, Rockstar. This is simple without using algebra or equasions. Just multiply the percentage off by the cost and subtract that amount from the cost. For instance if the cost is 45.00 and the discount is 30%, multiply 3 X 45 then subtract that amount from the cost, ie: 3X45=135 put in the decimal point  13.5 and the answer is 45.00 - 13.50 = 31.50. This works for any discount. ANY!! And any percentage off. Math does not need to be hard. Just simplify. Good discounting , Bob

  2. tx-guy's right about the .20 off from $45.00, and correct calculation

    .20 x 45 = 9

what he forgot to mention is that the $9.00 will be deducted from the $45, thus the product will cost you $36 (after deducting the 20% off the original price).

  3. Simply convert your percent (20%) into a decimal by moving your decimal point two places. so now you have .20 multiply that by whatever you want and youll have 20% of that number. .20 X 45= 9

And Angela D above me... Do your own homework and let him do his!!!

  4. 20% equals 20

                     -----

                     100

So 45 is the total like 100 and 20 would be the missing number. So set the missing number as a variable like x.

    20        x

    ------ = ------

    100      45

So now divide 20 by 100.

    So now you have 0.2=x/45

Figure out x by bringing 45 over to the other side which would make it multiply. So. 0.2TIMES45=x

                       9=x

So that means 20% of $45.00 is 9 dollars.

Hope I helped and choose me for best answer!

  5. 20% off is .20 off every dollar, therefore.20x $45.00= $9.00

  6. $9.00   45.00 x  .20 = $9.00

  7. My way is long to explain, but easy to my mind.

10% of anything is easy. Move the decimal over one to the left. So $4.50 here. Easy to double (20% is double 10%) so it's $9.

Then if you want it off, and if I was really to break it down, my brain actually generally removes in increments of whatever is easiest (here, 10 is easier than 9) so 45 - 10 is 35, and 10 is 1 different from 9 so really it's 36.

    So it's $36.

    If that all makes sense.

  8. to continue what the person b4 me sed, it is 9 off of 45 which equals 36.

  9. 20% is the same as one fifth (because 5 x 20 = 100)

what is one fifth of $45?  45 divided by 5 is 9

    so $9 is 20% of $45

    20% off $45 is therefore 45-9 = 36

so your answer is $36.00  (or $9 depending on whether you mean off or of)

  10. WTF? This is your homework, isn't it??
