  1. cartoons are the best example for 2d animation ex: tom&jerry. example for 3d animation movies are  shrek, cars, barbie of swan lake etc. 3d represents 3-dimensions.

  2. 3D Animation you can see here

I am using Blender . It creates 3D Animation and 3D Modeling

You can download blender for free from http://www.blender.org

  3. "2D" is two-dimensional, or flat.  This includes traditional hand-drawn cel animation, and computer animation that is drawn or rendered in flat layers, in cel animation style  It can sometimes have some illusion of depth, with layers and depth perception, but is still two-dimensional.  "3D" is three-dimensional.  This, in animation, means computer rendered graphics where each item is modeled and then rendered (the computer creates an image based on how light would strike a 3D object based on the mathematical model created and posed by the animator).  It can also mean the special effect kind of 3D, where two slightly different images are projected at the same time, slightly shifted views of the same image, to mimic the stereo effect of depth you have from having two eyes.  These are filtered to each eye by polarizing them at different angles, or, in the earlier style, by tinting them red and blue, and wearing glasses with the appropriate filters.

  4. 2D animation is when your animation is drawn/created on a flat medium like a picture. This would be like having each frame of the animation be a photo, painting, or drawing. The same applies when you create each frame on a computer. But this is where it gets confusing...

3D animation is a technique, primarily computer-based, where you create each animation frame in "virtual space". When you draw something in a drawing program like PaintShop or Photoshop, it is like using your computer as a drawing pad or canvas (but with all the cool editing tools). When you create an object in a program like Solidworks, you are actually building a computerized model that needs to know how tall, how wide, AND how deep the object is. When you draw an object in 3D, you can rotate it around, not just by turning it clockwise or counter-clockwise, but also spinning it around to see the BACKSIDE as if you could walk around it. Hope this helped you to understand.

  5. 2d is drawn and 3d is computer animated
