I have seen a few posts of late which I have the qualifications, skills and experience for which state - Must demonstrate you are commercially aware. Can any one shed a little light on any key phrases I can use, or type of scenario which grabs shortlister's attention. Thanks

  1. It means being business minded, always looking for and spotting an opportunity.

A very simple example would be a guy working in a work wear suppliers. Someone comes in and says he has got a job in a Cold Store and wants a pair of warm boots. Now if you were commercially aware, once you had sold the boots you would suggest that a couple of pairs of thick Norwegian Oiled Wool socks would be a good idea as well, and then how about a nice set of thermal under wear.  If you just supply the boots without taking the opportunity further, you are not very commercially aware. but if he walks out with an armful of kit you are commercially aware!  A simplification but no doubt you will get the idea.
