The world-system theory says that the world is divided into boundaries, structures, communities, vested interest groups, etc. As per this theory the system is held together because the various and conflicting forces are pulling it in their respective directions.  The strength of this system is dependent on the cummulative positive & negative impacts of various pulls & pressures. At any time a strenth of each pull is not constant nad may vary because of circumstances
