My computer has been freezing up - so much that I have to just turn it off and restart it. It has gotten so bad that I cannot even use it because it will freeze immediately. It works in safe mode and I found this DAT file in the Windows folder of the Local Disk (c:) and I cannot move it, delete it, rename it or anything... can anyone tell me if it is harmful and/or what it is?? I think it is a new file.... Somebody help!!

  1. This bthservsdp is not a virus, malware, trojan, or spyware. (it is part of your bluetooth wireless) Your system instability is due to something else. Ulocker will work... don't  use it on this file you need it. Malware Antibytes suggestion is good. I'd download spybot s&d all these are free and work. If these don't work to resolve your issue install hijackthis and send me the complete log file and download combofix just as a back up.

  2. Files with extension .dat are not harmful since they cannot execute and run on your computer and it looks like this file is used by a BlueTooth Service device on your computer.

It's locked because your Bluetooth Service required by a device is using it and probably has the file open.  I would not be concerned about it.

  3. download this, http://www.malwarebytes.org/

and have it run in your windows file, or do a full scan.  quarantine or remove everything it comes up with.
