What is 4-H?

i have heard the term 4-H before...but i have no idea what it is. can someone explain to me what exactly it is?

4-H is an organization for young riders (and just about any animal caretaker). Here's a link to their site: http://www.4-h.org  It's very helpful for anyone wanting to be related to animals. They also offer scholarships and the like.

4-H is a youth organization where they can show animals [including dogs, cows, sheep, horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, hamsters, ect....] You join a specific 4-H group that usually focus on one animal.. its for anyone really, but only kids ages 9-19or20? can show but anyone who wants to partake and learn can. basically you can talk to people who work with the animals and learn alot about them and improve your showing.. then thats who shows at the county fairs..

Here's the 4-h pledge and it pretty much explains what its all about:

I pledge my Head to clearer thinking,

my Heart to greater loyalty,

my Hands to larger service and

my Health to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world.

4h teaches kids how to raise, handle, and show animals. There's rabbit, horse, cow, chicken, goat, sheep, and even pig 4h. There's more than that. There's like sewing and cooking too I believe.

The object is just to better your skills in an area.

Horse 4h wants you to improve with your project horse every year, and better yourself as a horseman.

4H is a club. In 4H there are different projects you can take to learn about different types of animals.

Some of the projects in 4H are:

-Light Horse

-Canine

-Sheep

-Beef (cows)

-Small Pets (cats, rabbits, rodents, etc.)

And there's more too I believe!

In 4H you get together with your club and project members every few weeks and you do different things together.

Sometimes you may have a presentation, or go to a show, you might just get together to work on your project together even! You also get to make winter projects which are lots of fun and you get to do Public Speaking and do a speech on any topic you like as well! (Kay, some people hate the Public Speaking part. :P)

If you can get into 4H I would highly advise it! It's a great way to have fun, learn, and meet new people!

Im in 4-H for horse  so ill try to explain it well a national youth organization sponsored by the Department of Agriculture  with programs for young people ... lol
