  1. the four stroke system is made up of intake, compression, combustion and exhaust. most engines use this type of cycle, although there is a 2 stroke system also. The d i will stand for direct injection.

  2. Indirect injection is where a large, low pressure (1400-1800 psi) stream of fuel is injected into the combustion chamber, squirts into a "power cell on the opposite side of the chamber and it then squirts back into the chamber.

Direct injection is where multiple streams of higher pressure fuel (2400-3000 psi) is injected directly into the combustion chamber.

Direct injection makes starting easier and is usually more fuel effecient but tends to be noiser than indirect injection.

  3. a 4 stroke engine uses intake and exhaust valves and takes 2 full rotations to go through intake-compression,power,and exhaust strokes(each taking roughly 90 degrees of crankshaft rotation.Other types of engine design include 2 stroke cycle, and rotary/Wankel.

D.I. stands for direct injection. this means that fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber by the injector pump.
