Do the multiplication first.They are a higher order than addition/subtraction.

Carry th signs with the work as you go.

Begin at 4x5=20

Next 5x6=30

Next -2x9=-18

Subtract 6 at the finish.

What is here is a multiplication problem with a subtrahend at the end of it.

Are there any parentheses or anything to separate the numbers?That is a critical question.

If there is not,then:

20x30x-18-6 is the way to set it up.

The problem looks suspect to me and I am concerned that I have not solved it correctly so far.

Please advise.

Strictly according to the rules that I know of the answer is

62.

I am at a drastic variance to the other answers though.

5x6=30

2x9=18

so 20 +30 - 18 - 6 = 50 - 24 = 26.

The answer is 26.
