  1. 5(x+1) +6 (x+2) = 7(x +3)

    5(x+1) +6 (x+2)- 7(x +3)=0

    5x+5+6x+12-7x-21=0

    11x-7x+5+12-21=0

    4x+17-21=0

    4x=21-17

    4x=4

    x=1

  2. First multiply each term within the bracket by the number outside it, and add or subtract like terms together:

    5x+5+6x+12=7x+21

    11x-7x         =21-5-12(when you bring a term across the = sign, the positive becomes negative, and vice versa)

    4x = 4

    x   = 4/4

         = 1.

    Take note that if there is a negative sign outside the bracket, the signs inside it will change; so: -6(x-3) will become -6x+18.

    Hope that helps a little!

  3. 5x + 5 + 6x +12 = 7x + 21

    5x + 6x -7x = 21 - 5 - 12

    4x = 4

    x = 1

  4. 5x+5+6x+12=7x+21

    11x+17=7x+21

    11x-7x=21-17

    4x=4

    x=4/4

    x=1

    is it clear ?
