I'm going to be in the city come August, and I'm wondering what kind of clothing to wear. Considering how wet Van can be, what do you all suggest?

  1. Summer clothing would be good. Days may be 70 but nights will be cooler so bring something besides shorts,T shirts and sandals. It will probably be pretty dry through August but a light rain jacket would be a good idea as it would anywhere.

  2. It's been 3 weeks since it has rained. Also, right now the temp is around 73-80 degrees. So I think during August it may be even a bit hotter. We don't get much rain during summer but during October to June it rains almost everyday.

  3. It rains cats and dogs in winter but august is our dryest month... highly unlikely to have signifcant rain.  70-75 degrees is pleasant with very little humidity (being close to the ocean.)

Clothes... long sleeves or light jacket for cool mornings and evenings but the rest of the day pretty much shorts/tshirts and sandals.

Dress here is very very casual

  4. There will mountains of snow just across the border, and we all live in igloos.

Not really, 70 degrees Fahrenheit is the same in Canada as it is in the US.

Light summer clothing is all that is necessary. If you still feel cold, then wear an extra shirt.
