What is A/B scheduling like?

My school is switching to it next year. Does anyone have it? I know what it is but I don't know what life is like with it.

Do you have to have 2 backpacks, or 1 really large backpack to have all those classes at once? I liked block scheduling (4 classes a semester) because then I only had to carry stuff for those four classes, keeping my bag light :)

Is it good for AP classes? I take all AP and Honors classes. Do you get 2x the homework since it's 2 days? Do you ever forget your homework or the material because of the time gap?

Do you have 2 different lunches? Do you like A/B schedule/recommend it? Any other info?

A/B scheduling is when u have 4 classes a day. On "A" day you have 4 certain classes and 4 different ones the next day on "B" Day.

The first week you have:

Monday-A

Tuesday-B

Wednesday-A

Thursday-B

Friday-A

Then the next week you would have:

Monday-B

Tuesday-A

Wednesday-B

Thursday-A

Friday-B

This would repeat each week until the end of the year, by the way each class is about one hour and thirty minutes long.

I also have all AP classes and yes it great for it because you get two nights to complete your homework. For example if you get a math assighment on monday, its not due until wednesday. No you dont need two bookbags but its great to have two differnet binders.

There is only one lunch.

I have A/B scheduling. The best way i can explain it is to just show you my scedule.

So basically its like this: Monday (a) Tuesday (b) Wednesday (A) Thursday (b) friday (a). And then the next week monday will be a B day and tuesday will be an A day.

This is my schedule:

A days:

Homeroom

Art

Critical thinking

Lunch

Math

Study Hall

B days:

Homeroom

Biology

Social Studies

Lunch

Spanish

Yearbook

So during the year you will take 6 classes, but only three classes a day.  you dont really need two backpacks. I just have an A Day Binder, and a B day binder. And i keep all my text books that im not using either at home or in my locker.

we use to have it but it was even or odd days. so like the 13th would be and odd day and the 14th would be even but it was a little different than what you have

we have "a/b" scheduling now but it's block scheduling. we have 4 75 minutes classes a day.

i have 1 backpack (well i am getting another one but that's for a different reason) i ALWAYS forget my homework. i'll try to do HW for only the classes that i have the next day and it never works out. so i would suggest doing all your hw at once and keeping it in your bag so you won't forget it. you don't really get double hw. i only had a different lunch once in a while but that was for a different reason (my school's g*y) at first i didnt like it but then i got use to it and i enjoy it now...i have no choice lol

BACKPACKS- i used to have that type of scheduling, what i would do is take the books/ notebooks i needed to school for A day in my bookbag then leave the B day books at home then vice versa the next day. if you have lockers it'll be easier and bookbags are always lighter when you have lockers

AP CLASSES- actually it's pretty good for AP classes because you have 2 days to do your homework and atleast I never got twice the homework, teachers treat the class as though you have it every day so no, not twice the homework. I've forgotten my homework at home but that's because I'm a forgetful person, but if you keep an agenda writing down all the homeworks and materials you need you will never forget.

LUNCH- no, the lunches typically every day are at the same time, but it could be different for different schools.

and about recommending the schedules, it doesn't matter if i recommend it or not because regardless of my opinion you'll be stuck with the schedule anyways

[but i liked it, i had extra time for homework. what i didn't like was taking 1hr 30min- 2hr classes]

i juest had one normal backback but two binders and i would bring the binder according to the day it was

as for homework, i didnt really get any extra, and its great cause you get an extra day to do it

why would you have 2 different lunches? the times that stuff is doesnt change, just what class it is
