  1. A Beka curriculum is from Bob Jones University and is for Christian schools and Christian home schoolers.  It is solid, traditional instruction, but it does not take individual differences into account well.  It does have texts for all the major subjects.  The post that says that California is not allowing them for any credit just speaks to how liberal that state is.  Christian schools using these books in their curriculum are producing solid graduates with good GPAs and college acceptances.

  2. Beka was the name of Bob Jone's wife (of Bob Jones Crazy Fundie College).  They called some of their work books 'A Beka Book' so that's where the name came from.  They are based on the bible and not so much the subject they are supposed to cover, which has lead the University of California system to not accept any science, history, or English classes based on these textbooks.  If you want you or your kid to have a shot at a good college, don't waste their time on A Beka or Bob Jones.

  3. Abeka is basically the homeschooled version of a private Christian school in FL that encompasses all grades from nursery school through grade 12. Some of the classes are video-taped, allowing the homeschooled students to still have the ability to watch someone teaching the lessons. There is, however, no direct interaction with the teacher, the actual students, and the homeschooled students - especially as some of these videos can be around 5 years old by the time the homeschoolers actually see them.

I'm not too sure as to what you are wondering concerning the curriculum. Perhaps elaborate? Or maybe your answers can be answered here: https://www.abeka.com/ABekaOnline/FAQCur...

I'd say it's a decentprogram, as long as you get out of it before elementary school is over. They seriously are lacking in academics when you get to high school, especially in areas like math. Also, the history and science programs are VERY biased.

    Also, to the other responders:

Abeka is not associated with Bob Jones University but rather Pensacola Christian College. It is named after Beka Horton, who is the wife of Dr Arlin Horton who founded PCC and PCA (the grade school).
