  1. If you want true answers to any questions even this one, go to http://www.mynavyonline.com. They will explain A school, the length, where you go, etc.

  2. 'A' school is a skill training school that trains you for the job you chose. As of 1 October 2006, the Navy redesignated SWCC as its own rating. Therefore it is no longer required to attend "A School" in a separate "source rating" to become SWCC. But you do have to go to SWCC training which is in Coronado, CA. All together, SWCC training is about 23 wks long including the 3 wk indoctrination.

You would start out at Basic Crewman Training which is 8 wks long. You will be doing alot of Physical conditioning including running and swimming and it will get harder as the weeks go on.

After you grad. that, you move onto Crewman Qualification Training (CQT) which is 12 wks long. CQT trains, develops, and qualifies SWCC candidates in basic weapons, seamanship, first aid, and small unit tactics.

After that, you will be given your first assignment.

    SWCC BASES:

    San Diego, CA

    Virginia Beach, VA &

    Stennis, Mississippi.

  3. Here is a great site to answer all your questions.  I could cut and paste, but I have confidence if someone thinks they can be a SWCC, they can follow a hyperlink.
