Agree about school prob in Aberdeen but have you thought about Aberdeenshire? Different council and the schools seem to be doing alright. Crime is low, housing costs about Scottish average,easy access to countryside, seaside,city life

I love it in Aberdeen. In fact my neighbours house is up for sale right now(£405,000)

We moved here a few years ago from Ayrshire and I'll never look back, it just feels like home. I think it'll depend where you live though. It has it's fair share of junkies yes, but it also has lots to offer.

Schools wise, forget it. Unless you are going private. Aberdeen City Council have to find 27million and are doing it by cutting back on services, schools being one! If you want the absolute legal minimum level of education then it's the place to go!

Still, just for the dry days, it kicks the **** of anywhere else in Scotland.

[edit] Yeah I hadn't thought of the shire. Would be a good compromise, with better education yet similar perks as the city. Downside, you're in the country![/edit]
