What does Accounting mean and what do people do. How much money do the people make during the job.

There are many different types of accounting jobs, but the basics are you learn about double entry accounting (such as how to maintain a general ledger) and you learn how to prepare financial statements. You also learn other techniques for managing the accounting process with regards to payables, receivables, inventory, cash flow etc.

If you get a four year degree in accounting then you generally decide to go either into public accounting to become a CPA, or you may decide to go into private industry and work in an accounting or internal audit department. There are many places you can take this skill set..

This industry pays really well if you did well in school and get your CPA, though other routes can pay well too. I'm in the San Francisco area and new graduate going to a CPA firm will usually make over $60,000 their first year, and they get good and consistent raises over the years.
