The use of some sort of equipment to help a person with a disability. In particular these days it includes devices that speak for a child who cannot or help a child with limited hearing use what he or she has. It can include things like spelling boards or machines that say whatever the child inputs, either by typing or pointing to pictures. There are also computer programs which display print in a very large format and many others. The intent of all of this is to help people with disabilities maximize their potential and function as well as possible.
