What is American High School like in California?

Hi, I'm from the UK and might be moving to california next year.. I'm 15, and so will have to go to high school.. i was just wondering what its like over there.. : )

eg: what time does school start and finish?

whats the equivalent to english A levels?

will people take the mick of my accent?

whats school life in general like?

Like Kidd16 said, I heard school here is pretty mediocre compared to over there, so you'll be fine. School can start around 8 and finish at 3 or so. School life consists of mostly socializing and you're going to have tons of fun, if you make the best of it. As for your accent, most of the people I know LOVE a british accent and are going to love hearing you talk!! lol Good Luck!

Wow, you're moving all the way from the UK... you're gonna have an interesting time! :)

School usually starts early in the morning, usually around 8-ish. It ends around 3-ish. Most of the high schools make you take six classes. Freshman year you'll usually have an english 1 class, math, science, history, PE, and an elective (a foreign language or art or sumthing).

You'll meet a lot of new people, some nice others rude... as usual in the world. I would think an accent is pretty and interesting, making someone also interesting. People will be wondering where you came from and a lot of them will ask you what its like over there.

I've heard that classes over here are alot easier than in other countries, so if you're smart over there, you should be mega smart over here! :)

Good Luck if you do move over here, and have fun with high school! Join clubs or some sports teams... its a great way to meet new people who you will most likely get along with because of the similar interests.
