What is Area-51, are aliens amongst us?

Question

I have always wanted to do the research and find out what it was, or at least get some sort of general idea. But I just always forgot, so maybe you can help me.

One thing I know for sure is that if the government says it's not important (or something like that) then why can you be shot dead if you're any where near the area?

HHMM...questions questions, it would be pretty cool if there were aliens but only nice cool ones.

Area-51 is an area in the Nevada Desert located in Groom Lake several miles north of Las Vegas.

It is a top secret military research facility that has been credited for developing the U2 spyplane the SR-71 Blackbird and many of our Stealth aircraft such as the F-117 Nightkawk the B-2 Spirit and the F-22 Raptor.

It is a military instillation nothing more, no aliens just a lot of secret stuff.  Oh yea and if you trespass they are authorized for deadly force.

Captured Russian and Chinese aircraft have also been tested there, as well as various missiles, radars and electronic countermeasure devices.

All the really secret aircraft are kept in hangars and are only taken out when there are no Satelites overhead.

Any unautherized aircraft overhead are likely to get shot down.

The government bought up all the land around there, so you can not see anything even from the perimeter fence or from the tops of hills.
