I'd like to hear specifics on what basic is like for a woman from someone who has been. The more recent the better.

Specifically the physical aspects, thanks.

  1. in todays Army, it's the same for all genders.

    specifics?

    Promotions are the same

Most jobs are, except for the usual combat arms type.  Consider this one different.

    Pay is the same.

Ah, body fat standards differ, I guess that's another one.

But these are just gernalizations not limited to Basic Training.  In BT, everyone is green or whatever color their service wants to be.  No gender, race or anything.  At least, this is the way they try to be.

APFT (physical fitness) standards do differ but they all train together.  So again, this is pretty standardized.

I'm not a woman though so we'll see what else they come up with.

Edit:  I'd like to cap on that it's just as hard for both genders.  Sometimes harder for individuals but, and I don't misunderstand me on this one, more woman do not pass BT than males.  Why the high attrition rate for females, I'm not sure.

  2. Same as the males. They treat you all the same. You do less amount of sit-ups and push-ups on PT tests. Its pretty cool, you learn a lot and if you do the right thing they it won't be so bad. Don't take anything personally.
