My fiance taught an adult ed class last semester and they talked about theories at a basic level and he gave instruction on how to observe and navigate the heavenly bodies... Astronomy is one of the coolest and most mysterious areas of the sciences.

What exactly are you asking?  Astronomy is the study of space (stars and planets, etc), so usually you would find an astronomy class to be studying those things.
