  1. It's simply when some one can't pay attention to every day activities, and they also become very jittery, and compulsive. It's basically the kid in class who's always tapping his pencil on the desk, or bouncing his knee up and down, looking around the room. It doesn't mean that the person is retarded. And alot of great minds have ADD or ADHD. It can be medicated by taking a medication called Ritalin, or its generics. I myself suffer from ADHD. It makes your grades suffer, your relationships sometimes tend to fall apart, and you feel like you're SO smart, but you can't quite grasp things, because it's hard to take notes, follow along, and keep up with general tasks, such as homework. Several thousands, if not millions, of children, AND ADULTS, suffer from this mental disorder. Some get over it, some don't. The topic is actually still being studied, and we are just starting to understand it. It's part of a huge network of psychological complications.

I hope that helps answer your question thoroughly.

  2. retarded

  3. I know what the books say, but if you are a person that is supposedly ADHD, it is your personality, it is who you are, and everyone tries to change it.  The simplest explanation is that its an obstacle to sitting still and concentrating because you get bored with things that take too long, and you start thinking about other things that are more interesting.  There's really nothing wrong with this, but in a school setting or jobs that require a lot of concentration, a person with ADHD doesn't fit in.

  4. HI  i have ADD and all my kids have ADD ( that is ADHD without the hyper active part) i also ran a special needs daycare for years mostly had ADHD kids...

from my perspective......how i see it and deal with it and how i see it in others........... its like your brain is constantly running....sorta like a movie narrative talking the whole time.. makes for great multitasking.

when you take medications for it... you feel calm... i guess like none add ppl feel all the time.  it does not mean your anything in particular personality wise.. i believe it comes out differently in ea person because you have to take into account each persons personality and life experiences.  Often there is impulse issues present as well. But like all things we are individuals and we all can have the same issues but deal with them differently and some people have an easy time trying to "harness" there ADD and some ppl have a lot more difficulty getting a handle on makingtheirr life a success with it. Just need to be able to make the ADD or whatever it is you have work in your favor. :)

  5. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

It basically means these children (and adults alike) have a disruptive behavior, poor control of their impulses, mood swings, hyperactivity.

  6. ADHD is a behavioral disorder characterized by inattention, an inability to concentrate, difficulties in social relationships, and a lack of self-control. Hyperactivity is defined as excessively or abnormally active. This disease has been defined as deficits in sustained attention, impulse control, and the regulation of activity level to situational demands

  7. my brother and sister have it.

They just get really hyper, cant sit still, has a hard time focusing and pay attention. It doesn't mean they are retarded or stupid, just overly active.

  8. here are a couple of websites ADHD has no simple meanings to it

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD, is one of the most common mental disorders that develop in children. Children with ADHD have impaired functioning in multiple settings, including home, school, and in relationships with peers. If untreated, the disorder can have long-term adverse effects into adolescence and adulthood

ADHD is a common behavioral disorder that affects an estimated 8% to 10% of school-age children. Boys are about three times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with it, though it's not yet understood why.

Kids with ADHD act without thinking, are hyperactive, and have trouble focusing. They may understand what's expected of them but have trouble following through because they can't sit still, pay attention, or attend to details.

Of course, all kids (especially younger ones) act this way at times, particularly when they're anxious or excited. But the difference with ADHD is that symptoms are present over a longer period of time and occur in different settings. They impair a child's ability to function socially, academically, and at home.

The good news is that with proper treatment, kids with ADHD can learn to successfully live with and manage their symptoms
