  1. german is spoken in austria but it's a slightly different dialect than standard german

    They use also the Roman alphabet but they use for some words "ß" for double s.  It is called an "Eszett" and is spoken as longer s.  They also have  ÃƒÂ¤, ö, and ü.  Austria in German is written as Österreich (please note the double dots over the o).
