  1. Going for a meal, I find with a buffet you are all up and down at different times so the conversation dies and this is a special day with you being the center of attention. Which ever you decide I hope you have a great brithday.

  2. I would say buffet cause you can choose the foods you want to eat and cause you do not have to cook a meal.

  3. what food do u like best i would go with the buffet though :)

  4. I enjoy both depending on my mood.  However if many people are going then a buffet is a good idea because there is so much variety.

  5. Chinese buffets are excellent as you can have some of everything....sit down meals are nice too........I would say for 18th go for meal...

  6. buffet you can also invite family cost money and most buffets have very good stuff for everybody from young kids to old people

  7. maybe a meal if your watching what you eat because if you get a buffet you might keep serving yourself and pile up on food so a meal is actually a portion you can eat but you have a bigger variety on the food if its a buffet!

  8. buffet because you can eat more and pay less =]

  9. It depends on how hungry you are.  I prefer buffet, because I'm not stuck with a standard meal where I have to substitute one item for another.  I like to have a little of this and a little of that.  Plus, if you bring your friends and family, they all get to eat what they want and everyone is satisfied.

  10. I prefer buffet food as you can eat what you pick up rather than someone else dishing up the dinner and then being expected to eat it all.

  11. The last couple of times I ate out as part of a celebration, we went non-buffet. Seems we spent more time consulting the menu, decision-making, waiting for a waiter, waiting for everyone to be served (the last people to be served were starting to eat 35 minutes after the first people were served)....etc, etc.

The focus was on the problems of the meal service, not on the guest of honor. It was awful.

Go buffet!!  If you go at an off-time, the crowds at the food bars won't be as bad. If you call ahead most places will reserve an area for your party, and the kitchen will have a heads-up.

You won't be at the mercy of the menu, waitstaff and kitchen, and everyone can eat just what they want. If Uncle Joe is going for more fried shrimp, he can get a few extra for cousin Mary....it's all more fun and family...AND YOU!!

    Happy,Happy Birthday!

  12. How great that you  are celebrating your birthday with your family. I would do the buffet, it would make it easier on everyone.( especially if you have little kids coming with you)

  13. Well.... honestly I think I'd do a sit-down Chinese meal with your family.

While I eat at a buffet occasionally... it's really not the best food.  And it's sorta dirty if you think about it (which I don't like to because it grosses me out).

Hundreds of people a day are standing over the food trays and putting the spoons from the tray to their plates and back again.  Yuck.

I babysat on Saturday and my niece wanted to go to a buffet.... I noticed someone leaning over the self-serve ice cream area and their hair was hanging almost into the ice cream.  That's disgusting.

I think a sit down dinner would give you more family time anyway.... That's a good way to spend your 18th!! :)

  14. I like just a meal better because you know the food is fresh and made for you. Sometimes when you go to a buffet the food has been sitting there for a long time. Plus when you get a meal your food is yours but when you go to a buffet other people hav e picked through it first.

  15. Depends who you're going with. Buffets are good with friends, meals are good with families & boyfriends/girlfriends.
