As in, Russia's occupation of Chechnya and India's occupation of Kashmir.

The history of these three conflicts are very old and have gone on for decades. Has Britain and America been backing them (militarily/financially) as they do with Israel's occupation of Palestine?

  1. you bet ye we do.

  2. We've tried to pressure Russia to give more autonomy to Chechnya and lessen the abuses there, but frankly stability in that area isn't such a bad thing for our self-interest.

Indian Kashmir is stirred up by terrorist support from Pakistan, who we've supported in  a legacy since the Cold War that doesn't make much sense, and that Clinton should have reformed.  Same with Turkey.  These countries are weak allies at best, and we should encourage them to reform and modernize, but stop giving huge military aid to them which is then used to bomb people and aid militants.

It's difficult to argue for more autonomy in Kashmir while terrorists and terrorist supplies are flowing across the border from Pakistan.  If that stopped, I think we could get behind pushing for more autonomy or the long promised referendum.

The fact is that people are much better off being a part of India than a part of Pakistan.  But Islamic fanatacism is still a big problem in that part of the world.  And if it became it's own nation it would be pretty messy, at least to begin with.

  3. They said no on both.
