OK, well, I'm not a real health supplement buff here. I need to do a bit of research on the various forms of calcium supplements available in the pharmaceutical industry. But I have never even so occasionally heard of Calcium-L-Aspartate. Any enlightenment would be very much greatly appreciated. Many thanks, answerers.

  1. Calcium aspartate is simply the mineral calcium bound to the amino acid l-aspartate.  All minerals need  to be bound to an amino acid  in order for the body to absorb it.  Usually you see aspartic acid added to minerals like potassium and magnesium because for certain people they need the support of all three.  Like people with muscle disorders like fibromyalgia  and/or chronic fatgue... the minerals help their muscles and the aspartic acid helps to fight fatigue and gives some energy.  It would be good for a marathon runner also for that reason.  Calcium aspartate would be good for a person with heart issues because the calcium is important ans the aspartate wouold help give energy to the heart muscle.  You are right, calcium aspartate's not very common, and is usually found in combination with other aminos like lysine and taurine.  Calcium in general is a relaxinig mineral but the aspartate form you probably would not take before bed!
