What is Club Volleyball?

I'm graduating this year from high school, and I still want to play volleyball after high school. But I heard that club volleyball is provided at a lot of colleges and universities, and I'm interested in joining a sport that doesn't have as much competitiveness as you would expect in varsity.

What is club volleyball in general?

What are the qualifications?

Do you still have to try out in order to be a part of it, or could you just join whether you were at a beginners level or Varsity level?

  1. Club volleyball is run by USAV.  Most people think of club as being 18 and under.  You can play adults in USAV also.  When you get to college, you can go on the usavolleyball.org web site and the WannaPlay link and follow it to the map.  Click where you are going to college and find out the teams in your area.

Adults are divided into Open, AA, A, BB and B levels.

Open has top college teams, the USA 2 teams and several international teams.  It is VERY competitive.

AA is the top and most competitive level for most regions.  It has mostly college players and ex college players.

A is still very competitive.  It is some older college players and some good college players that do not work out at volleyball every day.

BB is competitive although not as much as the above levels.

B tries to be competitive, but it just not as high level volleyball.

If you find a group to play with, teams are different.  Some practice.  Some only play tournaments.
