Very controversial question, history in America likes to pain a picture of Columbus as a great sailor, a pioneer of the New World we even celebrate Columbus day because he "discovered" America after landing in the Bahama's. He was a brave man who believed the world was round in a time where many people were still skeptical.

Truthfully he was very brutal toward the Native inhabitants of the Caribbean Islands, his discoveries lead millions of Europeans to commit inhumane acts of torture, and extermination of Native Americans and destruction of their culture and ideals.
