  1. It's a great place - I used to work there. It has so  much going for it - lovely location with the River Lee splitting as it goes through the city - good central shopping area - some very interesting local features (Shandon Bells, etc), one of the steepest cobbled streets in Ireland (Patrick's Hill) within a stone's throw from the centre).

It is also a magnificient county and gateway to some of Ireland's best scenery (see link below). Corkonians are great craic and you will find them extremely friendly and informed when you visit!!

  2. lovely, a nice friendly city

would love to go back myself

  3. I doubt you wouldl be able to understand the people who live in Cork

  4. It's a buzzing, young, friendly city. The countryside further East or West of Cork City is panoramic.

Cork is always well worth a visit.

  5. fly into cork airport for a long weekend,

buses and taxis are cheap, car hire is not.i like to stay in a little coastal town kinsale,it's great during the day then we get the bus into cork city for the night great craic, finish off with a taxi back to kinsale.four is an ideal number to travel splitting the costs makes it an inexpensive weekend.far better and cheaper than dublin

  6. Cork is the REAL capital of Ireland. Cork produces the best sportspeople such as Keano, Sean Og, Sonia, O' Gara, Stringer, Declan Kidney, Eddie O' Sullivan and the bould Christy Ring.

It also produced James Joyce (even though the Dubs think he's theirs)

  7. cork is the best part of ireland, i mean i love the rest, but nothing beats it

    the accents amazing too

and west cork has the most amazing landscape ever...its so wild and green and rugged and mountainous and wowww

    and everyones so lovely

sorry bout the randomness of the answer, its like 3 in the morning :D

  8. Cork is the biggest county in Ireland, and the main city is Cork.

County Cork has varied and very pretty landscape, both inland and along the coast, with some interesting islands - Dursey Island, for example, is served by cable car, and the locals put their cattle in it also to transport them across the strait! Cork city has a hopping night life, busy bar scene, great cafes and restaurants, lots of students, and a thriving arts scene.

The local dialect is very musical, and can take a bit of getting used to, but it's nice. There are some Gaeltacht areas in County Cork, where Irish is the spoken language, and one of these is Cape Clear, known in Irish as Oilean Chleir. It's about 45 minutes out from the town of Baltimore by ferry, and you are not permitted to drive there unless you're a resident, and it's really hilly, but when the sun shines it's one of the nicest places .....

  9. It's a wonderful city. You wont be regretting going there...

  10. Lovely port town. Beautiful surrounding countryside. Great local dialect.

  11. I am from Cork myself. Having met people passing through and living here for a few months, they liked it. One friend of mine (who is from Canada) likes the place because it is small enough, and more of a 'local' kind of place when contrasted with the big cities... like Toronto where he is from. Friendly people, plenty of pubs & Beamish, instead of Guinness!

    Enjoy!

PS, make sure to go West when you are down South also, some of the best of the Irish landscape.
