Is it as good as as O.S and K/B engines? Why is it so much less expensive?

  1. A cox is a great engine. It's operating principle is unique in the engine world (or at least it once was). This is true because it really mixes the fuel with gas outside the engine, and thus has less problem with oil failure...in theory...

But what other engine does that?

What other engine could get away with that much polution in this day and age?

So if you really want to smell the nitro and caster bean oil, no other engine delivers like a Cox.

    And they are quite powerfull.

But they are generally less "well developed" in terms of extranious parts that weigh down an engine and only provide for longer run times and less waste. But waste is not a problem on most model airplanes, cause it basically is a waste anyway....!!!!

  2. A .049 engine is small.  Cox used to vend a very good engine.  I've crashed several of them many times and they always kept on working well unless I ran it into something hard enough to break a cylinder or block.

I never could afford OS and K/B wasn't an option when I was flying model aircraft.

  3. they are very good engines! I have many of them. If you know how to start them, they will start and run every time. Their really cheap because they are really the most basic little engine.
