  1. It describes the way cultural practices are passed from one generation to the next.

    People put such an importance on cultural transmission because to cultural practices play a very important role in our identity.

    For a person growing up in parts of India or west Africa Female Circumcision may be seen as a sacred ritual or rite of passage a woman must go through when she reaches puberty.   Where as I would see it as the barbaric mutilation of a child in order to greater control her body.

    The difference here can be attributed to cultural transmission
