  1. Gods own country....the lakes, the scenery....unspoiled beauty....what more could you ask for?

  2. You should base yourself in Bowness.

The hike up High Street is spectacular and there is always Sca Fell.

  3. Cumbria is probably the best place in england to go fell walking it has some gorgeous scenery

  4. We sometimes go to Ulswater, Pooley Bridge camping. Walks are fantastic there, pony trekking, boat hire, cycle hire and it's got great walks. There's also some good pubs that serve nice food, but take good wet weather gear if you go. When the weather's great, it's fantastic, but it rains like the monsoons sometimes.

  5. I am from Cumbria and sometimes i guess we take it for granted at times but it really is the most beautiful of areas with magnificent scenery around the lakes and mountains Cumbria is a fell walkers paradise with any amount of fantastic walks available and i would recommend the Keswick area  as the perfect base. As other people have already mentioned it can really rain here but dont let that put you off , Cumbria is great and you will love it.

  6. Beautiful but tends to be rainy. I think Keswick is the best place to base yourself and their Tourist Information Centre in the town has lots of leaflets and books on circular walks in the area many starting from Keswick. I like to do a round tour of between 5-10 miles and there are some nice ones from there. We went this year and it was very wet but when we went 3 years ago it was glorious weather. We based ourselves at the campervan at The Camping & Caravanning Club campsite by the shore of Derwentwater.

  7. wet

  8. Yes Cumbria and The Lake District is a good place to walk. I have been on various walks there.

Good walks include walking round Ullswater or Derwent Water. Have a look at the following website for more information:

or http://www.lake-district.gov.uk/ for information on The Lakes.
