DAEMON tools is a virtual drive that allows you to mount image files (taken from a CD). It can replace a physical CD if you first extract it into an image file such as .iso, .mdf, etc.

take this e.g.

You want to play a game which will allow you only if you mount CD... In such a case you can create an .iso or .nrg image using Nero or Roxio. Now keep this image in hard disk and using the options of Daemon, mount this image. You'll find the CD's content displayed with a popping up of AutoRun like usual happening...

In this you make the Operating System feel that there is some extra CD drive (too..) when there is no additional hardware are attached...!

As soon as you have disks in Daemon tools it appears in your My Computer...!
