  1. Dastarkhana is the name of the cloth that is used to be furnished in the table or the floor to avoid uglyness in the place.

    Plate , glasses and other steaming hot dishes  are been kept for serving purpose.

    No it is not the same way like wazwan in kashmir. Dastarkhana is the cloth placed on floor & Wazwan is the food item.

  3. I heard this word in Hyderabad also....I think it describes a piece of embroidered cloth which is spread on floor around which people will sit have their food.....the food containing utensils are placed on this sheet of cloth....I dont think it is a food item by itself.
