What is Difference between woman salaries and man in India?

Women earn on an average 16% less than the average man's salary in India. But that's the problem with averages, they hide the real disparitites and the causes. When you do some introspection, you find there isn't much for women to complain about regarding this.

Well, there are causes other than discrimination for this (Sadly, there is discrimination in Bollywood and media, no denying that, but considering that women earn lakhs for that, I don't think it is an issue).

Women (not just in India) take jobs that usually pay less than men's. This is because we still have family values and have not eroded our culture like the USA, which is a good thing. Working mothers still care more about family than careers, so they look for flexible jobs that allow more family time. These jobs naturally play less, because they involve less work.

Also women are much, much less likely to take up dangerous jobs that risk life and limb, so the sheer danger involved make these jobs pay more, and since men take these more, you shouldn't be surprised that men earn more.

I think the pay disparity in sports exists in every country. But I do think it is justified, as women's sports is less entertaining (Yes, that's the blunt truth. Would you rather watch MS Dhoni or Mythali Raj?) and thrilling. You can't pay the same to watch something less entertaining.

If you research it yourself or wait till 2011 for the next census (or easily check with your/your dad's company), you'll find that women earn the same as men for the same jobs, and not less. The pay disparity mainly exists because women tend to dominate the jobs that pay less.

In the lower working level there is no difference. Middle and upper level marginal 5 to 15% diff , depends upon the field and nature of job

Indian Govt doesn't distinguish salaries depending upon the s*x

It is mainly in films, media, sports, adverts where lot of money is involved women are not treated at par with men
