It means treating someone differently because of their Religion.

For example, if an employer outwardly refuses to hire Catholic men or women, that's discrimination based on Religion.

Not hiring someone based on religion is a great example

Such as, not hiring a muslim woman to be a news anchor because she wears the hijab.

Not allowing children to go to a school because of their faith.

It's not allowing someone to do something because of their faith/religion
