  1. Means Eastern Standard Time.

  2. Eastern Standard Time (EST) where?

    Australia: EST 6pm = Perth time 4pm.

    USA: EST 6pm = Perth time 9am the next day.

    There's 15 hours difference.

    That's taking into account Daylight Saving in the USA.

    Right now:

    Perth - Thu 8:01 PM

    San Francisco * - Thu 5:01 AM

  3. It depends on which EST you mean. EST stands for Eastern Standard Time, but it could be EST in Australia or the USA and other places too.

    If you are asking about the time when it's 6.00pm EST in the US (i.e. New York and other cities on the eastern seaboard of the USA), the time in Perth is 7.00am the next morning. For the next few months, the east coast of the USA is on EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)  and their clocks are advanced 1 hour so when it's 6.00 pm (US) EDT it is 6.00 am Perth time (the next day).

    EDIT;

    Other answerers should note that San Francisco operates on PST or PDT, not EST or EDT as it's on the west coast of the USA.

  4. It would be 4pm in Perth!

    Until last year, WA did not have daylight saving so when NSW, Vic and Tas went to daylight saving, they were three hours ahead of Perth while Brisbane remained two hours ahead.

    This is the second year of a three year experiment with daylight saving in WA so Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart remain two hours ahead. Queensland does not have DS so when Perth puts the clock forward, Brisbane is one hour ahead of Perth.

    I hope that all made sense!
