I know what it looks like, but I have never had it at a restaurant. How do you eat it? Are they the same as beans, or snap peas?

  1. Edamame simply put is the food of the gods.

  2. When served edamame (pronounced Edda-Mah-May) in the pod, you use your teeth to slide the beans (there are 2 or 3) out of the pod into your mouth,  then discard the pod. Unlike snap peas - the edamame pod is inedible. Edamame is soybeans and I say they are tasty.

  3. they are soybeans in the pod...they are yummy..you can steam them and eat them out of the shell

  4. The closet thing I can describe the taste to is a very light nut flavor, not too much flavor at all.  In fact you can sprinkle anything on them to get more of a flavor you like, ex salt, lemon, Cajun seasoning, anything.  It is very good, not any kind of taste you would have to be acquired to.  My 4 and 6 year old girls eat it all the time as a healthy snack (and they are picky eaters!).  At the restaurant they are served in their pod.  You just put it in your mouth bite one end with your teeth and the edamame pops into your mouth.

PS if you boil the pod enough it becomes so soft you can sat everything but the strings on the sides as those always stay tough.

  5. edamame is soy beans. you eat them by running your teeth along the pod and the soy beans pop into your mouth. they taste really good if you eat them warm with salt on them :)
