  1. Typically, “emotional intelligence” is defined in terms of emotional empathy, attention to, and discrimination of, one's emotions, accurate recognition of one's own and others' moods, mood management or control over emotions, response with appropriate (adaptive) emotions and behaviors in various life situations, especially to stress and difficult situations, balancing of honest expression of emotions against courtesy, consideration, and respect (i.e., possession of good social skills and communication skills)

  2. Actually in our day to day life we get emotionally blackmailed by someone. Emotionally intelligency is a way to do things and save yourself from those persons who generally do things bad for you emotionally.

  3. Its one of Gardner's list of 12 intelligences but I believe it was 1st proposed by Thorndike.  I give the Wiki connection, which is correct.

  5. How calm and contained one can be in the ordinary day to day interactions to the worst imaginable situations!

  7. 1) Emotional Intelligence (EI), often measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ), describes an ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one's self, of others, and of groups. It is a relatively new area of psychological research. The definition of EI is constantly changing.

    2) EI is described that Emotional Intelligence is actually the way in which you interact with people, and how you relate to them.

  8. It's completely different from an IQ, because measuring emotional intelligence measures your ability to perceive and manage your emotions and those around you. For example, there are some people who have a high IQ but low EI - they receive 4.0s and always get As on tests, but they may not have many friends, because social interaction is harder for them - they may offend people without realizing it or be too blunt.

Here's sort of a silly E-IQ test to help you get an idea of what it represents: http://www.helpself.com/iq-test.htm

  9. You understanding and awareness of your own emotions and how they control your actions
