What is Energy efficient Star?

I'm doing a project on the environment and I'm having trouble on Energy Stars. what are they for? Why do we use it

the more stars a product has the more energy efficient it is they can also tell you how many kilowatts the product uses. washing machines also have water efficient stars that do the same sort of thing

They are on appliances, like refrigerators, washers , dryers etc. If the appliance you buy has an energy star, it is more energy efficient, than one that does not. It will save energy and money on your monthly energy bills.
