What is English Translation for the word Tularosa?

Tularosa is a rose or is it a tree or a shrub, not the basin in New Mexico.

The reason the basin and town got their names were because of the Tularosa that grew in the area.

Might be hard to find a direct translation of this one since it's an indigenous name. I found two definitions (links below) and they both describe the Tularosa as being a reed plant that grows along rivers and in marsh areas. My grandmother used to call cattails, tularosas but that's no guarantee that that is the proper name.
