  1. f-22 raptor

    Performance

    Maximum speed:

    At altitude: Mach 2+[82][83] (1,325+ mph, 2,132+ km/h)

    Supercruise: Mach 1.72 (1,140 mph, 1,825 km/h)[1][79] at altitude

Range: 1,600 nmi (1,840 mi, 2,960 km) with 2 external fuel tanks

    Combat radius: 410 nmi[79] (471 mi, 759 km)

Ferry range: 2,000 mi (1,738 nmi, 3,219 km)

    Service ceiling 65,000 ft (19,812 m)

    Wing loading: 66 lb/ft² (322 kg/m²)

    Thrust/weight: 1.09[84]

    Maximum g-load: -3.5/+9.5 g

    Thyphoon

    Performance

    Maximum speed:

    At altitude: Mach 2[120][121] (2,120 km/h, 1,320 mph)

    At sea level: Mach 1-1.2 (1,460 km/h, 910 mph)[citation needed]

    Supercruise: Mach 1.5 (1,593 km/h, 990 mph) [122]

    Range: 1,390 km (864 mi)

Ferry range: 3,790 km (2,300 mi)

    Service ceiling 19,812 m (65,000 ft[123])

    Rate of climb: >315 m/s[124][125][126][verification needed] (62,007 ft/min)

    Wing loading: 311 kg/m² (63.7 lb/ft²)

    Thrust/weight: 1.18

  2. F-23

  3. raptor

  4. well the typhoon was designed to beat the f-22 i think, but i think they are about the same speed and manuvability, but i no that the typhoon is more pilot friendly than the f-22

  5. Speed alone does not a "great" air superiority fighter make.  The Typhoon was NOT designed to defeat the F22-it was designed to defeat the MiG29 and Su27 series.  The Typhoon is also multirole: it can perform interdiction and CAS-the F22 despite what the previous USAF Chief of Staff asserted, could but is not designed to do so.

Absolute speed is good for two mission profiles:  getting to a fight or getting out.  Max speed uses fuel at a prodigious rate-not a good thing when facing down multiple gomers.  AGILITY is the key once one enters a furball-which any intelligent fighter crew regardless of nationality will avoid.  Agility means the ability to rapidly accelerate, excellent sustained-G and instantaneous-G ability (this is where the desired 1:1 thrust/weight ratio is key).  The best velocity vector that gives one the above is the "corner velocity" and is ALWAYS either below or just at 1.0Mach.  The F22s "supercruise" achieving and sustaining 1.0Mach+ without 'burner is a HUGE advantage over the Typhoon; once all the bugs with it are worked out.

In the jet age, the majority of kills occurred when a gomer needed to separate-usually due to fuel.  Nearly all of those occurred at trans/subsonic speeds.

  6. Top speed isn't the most important thing in a fighter.

The F-22 will probably be the dominant fighter for the next 20 years.
