Question:

What is Favre worth?

If the Packers trade him, what should the team that gets him pay for Favre? Is a 1st round pick worth him, or too much? A 2nd round pick? Or what would you give in exchange (serious answers please)?

My opinion: Maybe a 2nd round pick, depending on how mush the team getting him needs a QB. Talent-wise, he is past his prime, and probably worth a second round. But he has been playing these games about retiring or not, and one of these years, he will actually stay retired.

  1. I cannot imagine the Packers getting much of anything for him.  I mean how can any team believe Favre when he says, 'I'm committed and ready to play.'  His credibility is 'zero' in my book.

  2. knowing favre is near retirement..i wouldnt give more than a 3rd or 4th rounder for him...giving a 1st would be stupid for a guy who received a senior citizen discount in GB...favre is way past his prime..he had a lucky year last year...no team would benefit from benching a younger guy for this old man...time for him to move on

  3. First round pick for the Jets, or the Vikings, meeting his same contract amount - but extending his playing past 2008 season .. with possible some contractual added conditions about his wishy-washy retiring decisions.

  4. i'll give the has-been 20 bucks to cut my lawn. Only if he remembers to weedwack and blow it off when he's done though!

it's time to step down. he needs to park his injured backside behind a desk at Espn already.

  5. Depends on the situation I guess.  Not worth a lot as a backup but to a team that doesn't have a proven quarterback, probably a lot more.  I agree he is past his prime and some day will show it.  I just question his desire to play after what he has done the past few years.  On the other hand, last year he was still productive, so who knows?

  6. They wouldnt be able to get much for a 38 year old QB who makes 12 million dollars a year. MAYBE a third. And they would probably have to pay alot of his salary too.

  7. AJW. first of all if they cut him the vikings, jets or even the bucs would make an offer to him so it wouldnt be hard for him to find a job elsewhere, and if they did cut him it would hurt there salary cap, but to answer your question, Brett Favre is not passed his prime last i checked he won 13 games, took his team to the NFC championship game, threw for 4,000+ yards, 28 TDs and 15 INTs. His trade value probably is a 3rd round pick or maybe 4th, but it would be difficult to trade a 38 year old QB making 12 million a year and always playing the retirement game.

  8. They were asking earlier for a first round pick and two lower round picks (3rd and 4th). That is why they were having so much trouble trading him. Think back to last year when Randy Moss got traded for a forth round pick. Personally I think anything comparable to a fourth round pick would be good.  I really think the Packers will let him into training camp have him compete with Rodgers till the first week of the season and then cut him so it makes it harder for him to get a job else where.

  9. Two bottles of ketchup and a used napkin

  10. He is worthless as a parachute that opens on the second bounce.
