What is Final Fantasy Versus XIII?

Theres FFXIII but then there is FF versus XIII with different characters....What is it?parallel story?

Nope, it is just part of the FFXIII compilation, part of the  Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII, not a sequel, nor a prequel. It is set in the FFXIII world, with different characters and a different story, totally independent to FFXIII. It is a lot darker than FFXIII, and has a greater display of graphic violence with an instance of blood. Little is known about the game, right now. But Square -Enix plans on relvealing the main characters name at an event that takes place on October 12, 2009.
