What is Final Fantasy?

OK I adore anime so I just wonder what it is. There was like a game and then a movie or something and I keep seeing things online so....what is it? I'm confoooosed!!!! ;)

Final Fantasy was originally a game. The game was later expanded into an entire series that still releases to this day. But it's not sequential; every installment in the series has its own world and story and completely different premise. Kinda like Twilight Zone. Also, yeah, I think a few different movies were made based on some of the games. I've never heard of any Final Fantasy anime, though.

But the games have quite a large fanbase.

The first Final Fantasy was an RPG game in 1987.

In 2004, the first OVA was made. Anime also were made during that time.

Later on in March 2007, animated films (aka movies) were made.

..........Basically, all the anime and movies were based on the game.^^

Final Fantasy is a role playing game of different worlds and different people of different cultures. There are atleast 15 different game titles (maybe more than 15). Each game other than X and X2 have different roles or different stories. There are atleast 2 different movies and those two movies are from Final Fantasy VII game.

Primarily, Final Fantasy is a huge series of games (with very few having any plot connections between them). However, there are 2 anime serieses and one CGI movie based on the franchise as a whole, as well as a CGI movie and a 20 minute OVA connected to Final Fantasy 7.

Final Fantasy is a role playing game where you beat up monsters. They also came out with a movie.( I don't what that is about.) probably about the game.

Final Fantasy is a series of games, each different than the last, none of them (at least I don't think they do) have anything to do with each other. There was a couple movies made from the 7th game. One of the movies is called Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (The games uses Roman Numerals) The current game they're working on is XIII (13) They also have a couple games called Final Fantasy Tactics, 1 for the Game Boy Advance and 2 for the play station series.

Final Fantasy was SquareSoft last attempt at saving their company back in the late 80's they were going bankrupt. They called it Final Fantasy because it was their last chance to save their company. It has been made into actually a couple animes series and also been made into a couple of movies. But mainly it is a game that is up to number 12 in the series but none of them have anything to do with the others. Some similarites but there are few sequels to these games but the sequels are not considered new numbers like 1 2 3 4 5 6

Go buy the game Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII. The best in my opinion.

Final Fantasy is a series of games that have really intricate story lines, wicked game play, and just good games in general.

Another answer to a question that's often asked; no they don't have to do with each other. Each game has it's own storyline it's own main characters.(Except FFX-2) So you can play any one of them and not be completely confused with the storyline.
