  1. I caught the train into Florence at midnight and had a very cheap place to stay in 35 minutes. There is a campsite overlooking the city that provides you with beds and a pre-setup tent for about 12 Euros each a night. The showers were hot and the bar was great.

The best part was the view, it overlooked everything and was absolutely picturesque to wake up to. It was just off the Piazzale D'Michelangelo and a bus ran there frequently from the town centre.

Make sure you do the Uffizi gallery and have some pizza, Florence is a tad expensive but a lifetime experience.

  2. Florence is crowded so get to any gallery early ....... don't know about flights ect., always drive there

  3. Yeah, Florence is great, crowded and expensive.

For cheap accommodation you can check here:

Ryanair fly to Pisa, than you need to take train to Florence, it is good connected.

  4. Florence is lovely although a little expensive. Its also very busy. Worth the trip though. I'm sure there will be cheap hostels for you to stay in.

  5. I found Florence very busy (to the point I had to walk on the road there was no space on the sidewalk!) and the accommodation is expensive.

I stayed in a place about 50mins by bus out of flrence...there were cabins (I think it cost about 26 euro per night and the bus trips werre about 4 euro).  THe walls were thin, no tv etc (but is a resteraunt and little shop to buy some things), luckily I met up with 3 american gilrs who had a caravan there and spent some time with them in the evenings...otherwise it can get lonely if you don';t have a good bok!

  6. I live in Florence.  You can find many cheap places to stay online for under 40 euro, probably you'll have to share a bathroom with the floor though, but it is not so bad.  Hostels you can find, in the end, you are only sleeping there anyway.  The city is small, so wherever you are, your near everything.  Just make sure it says you are in the historical center.  The museums are great, but with three days, my advice is just to walk around.  The view is better than anything you can see in a museum, unless that is really your passion.  The city dies down around 10pm, except for the tourists in the discos.  Spend a day in the city, another day you can take bus number 7 to fiesole, its close, beautiful and has a great view of the whole city.  Have fun. It's expensive, but as long as your not shopping at Gucci or Fendi, you'll be fine.  England isn't much cheaper.

  7. As someone said Ryan Air flies to Pisa, although they call it Pisa Florence airport on their site. You can visit the churches for free. You might want to take bus 13 to Piazzale Michelangelo for a great view overlooking the city from above.  The church of San Miniato is a short walk from there and is very nice. I think restaurants are cheaper than in England.

  8. as with any city you can travel with a high or low budget and Florence is no exception. To eat there are many cheap trattorias but just make sure that you stay of the main piazza's and you should be fine. For accommodation, I still think one the cheapest way to stay in Italy is in an apartment. If you're with a group of friends it's fun and cheap. We stayed at an apartment with a company called Holiday velvet http://www.holiday-velvet.com/florence

It isn't difficult getting from Aeroporto A. Vespucci to Florence. There are always taxis outside to take you to the center of Florence.

You can do it cheaply by taking the big blue bus that can be caught just outside the Arrivals terminal. It leaves every half hour from 6 in the morning to 8:30 at night. The bus is non-stop to Santa Maria Novella and from there you can walk into the center. many of the cheaper accommodation are around this area anyway the the trip should cost around 4 euro.

  9. Fantastic place but be very careful as it's expensive. If you're going on a budget, prepare to be shocked at all the designer name shops that greet you when you arrive! That's the budget gone then..... Also check out where the airport is in relation to where you're staying as cabs are very very expensive there. Don't be fooled thinking that the aiport will be anywhere near the town. When I went, we thought "how expensive could it be to get from a major airport near Florence (forgot the name)?" Well, to our shock, it was 150 Euro's to go about 20 miles - and there was no alternative late in the evening so check it all out before you go!!!
