What is Germany's mascot animal?

Like the U.S.'s is the eagle, russia is the bear, etc.

I heard it was the leopard. Is this true?

We use the eagle. It has been our mascot since Charlemagne used it ~800.

When Germany was split, Berlin had the bear for a symbol.  Now Germany as a whole has an eagle.

it's the eagle but since Knut, Flocke and Wilbär it also could be the polar bear!;-)
